The Dolomites Mountains with their dramatic peaks and valleys is an excellent
destination for the avid outdoor traveller. Visit some of the most
beautifully positioned towns within Italy. After departing from Milan you
will explore, some of the most wonderful valley of Dolomites area. This
region includes many small villages typical of a mountain setting. Cortina
d’Ampezzo, probably the most renowned proceed to Lake Braies, Val
Pusteria and Val Badia, probably the most typical valleys of the region.
Day 1 Milano, Verona, Cortina D'AmpezzoAt 8:30 am, you will be picked up from the Hotel Jolly Machiavelli in central Milan and taken to Verona. Known worldwide as the setting of the most important love story ever written, this little city has been enchanting visitors for centuries. While peering up at Juliet’s balcony, you will learn the history of hatred between the two important Verona families on which Shakespeare based his tragedy. Next, you’ll visit Piazza delle Erbe, the old square and market surrounded by the Torre Lamberti; city hall; the tribunal; and Arena, the coliseum. After taking in all that Verona has to offer, you will depart for Cortina d’Ampezzo, traveling through Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, and Passo Pordoi, parts of the Dolomites mountain range, Italy’s section of the Alps. Though this region includes many small mountain villages, the most renowned is Cortina d’Ampezzo, a popular vacation spot during summer and winter holidays that has often been featured in movies and has hosted various World Cup and Olympic events. Check in to your hotel for some well-deserved rest.
Day 2 Cortina, Lago di Misurina, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lago di Braies, Val Pusteria, Val Badia, Cortina
After breakfast, you will set off for Lake Misurina, situated perfectly between a forest and the Dolomites mountain tops, in particular the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, three distinct, neighboring peaks well-known among Alpine experts. Next, make your way to Lake Braies, one of the deepest lakes in the region with waters so clear that its color is a unique shade of blue. Visit Val Pusteria and Val Badia, the most traditional valleys of the region, before returning to Cortina, where you will spend the rest of the day at your leisure and one last night in your hotel.
Day 3 Cortina, Passo Falzarego, Passo Gardena, Passo Sella, Canazei, Passo Costalunga, Carezza, BolzanoEnjoy breakfast before traveling through several Dolomite passes, including Passo Falzarego, which is situated in the basin surrounding Cortina between Val di Fassa and Val Gardena. With its marvelous views both in winter and in summer, you may choose to venture to Sassolungo, a nearby mountain. Next, you will go to Canazei, famous for its wonderful views of the Dolomites, where you will have time to explore and eat lunch. The first part of your afternoon will be dedicated to Passo Costalunga and Lake Carezza, known for its brilliant shades of greens and blues, which earned it the nickname “Rainbow Lake.” Finally, you will arrive in Bolzano, an important commercial center during the Middle Ages that has since increased its industry productions. You will visit the gothic Duomo, the symbol of the town, and the Dominican church, painted with frescos dating back to the 14th Century. After winding through Via dei Portici and other central streets of the medieval town, check in to your hotel for a night of relaxation.
Day 4 Bolzano, Trento, Madonna di Campiglio, Passo del Tonale, Milano
Depart for Trento after breakfast. The capital city of the same name is dominated by Castello del Buonconsiglio, a symbol of the House of Habsburg, which occupied the district for many centuries. You will also see two 16th Century buildings: Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the first works of Renaissance and Gothic Age, and Palazzo Geremia. Spend the next part of your day in the Trentino Dolomites. Both Malè and Madonna di Campiglio were well-known hiking and skiing destinations in the 12th Century and remain two of the most renowned in the entire Alps region. There, have lunch on your own and then head to Ponte di Legno, a popular winter ski resort that doubles as a relaxing summer destination. Visit Passo Tonale for remarkable views of the region before finally returning to Milan, where the tour will come to an end.
