One week in Florence learning Tuscan cuisine with the chef of one of the best restaurants in Florence (hands on cooking lesson) and exploring the secret places of this extraordinary city. This programme gives you the chance to live the typical atmosphere of Florentine life complementing cooking activities with the cookery classes and the “special” visits.
Day 1 Arrival in Florence and accommodation in your private apartment, at the first floor, of a 1800 building, near the “Piazza Santo Spirito” in the characteristic residential “Oltrarno” district of “Santo Spirito”, in the historical centre and close to the most important monuments and museums of the city: Ponte Vecchio 400 mts, Uffizi Gallery 600 mts, Piazza della Signoria 500 mts. The apartment features a living room, an equipped kitchen, a double bedroom and bathroom, and it is air conditioned. In the district you can find typical “Trattorie”, café, food shops and an outdoor market. Time at leisure and, in the afternoon, meeting with your hostess for an aperitif and a dinner in a typical trattoria.
Day 2
In the morning meeting with your hostess for a walking tour in the centre of Florence. In the afternoon time at leisure.
Day 3 In the morning cooking lesson followed by the lunch In the afternoon meeting with your hostess for a visit of the district of di Santo Spirito. The "Santo Spirito" district is characterized by its craft men’s workshops and typical products shops, by local people’s everyday life which takes place here, by picturesque town landscape still preserved here (rather than in other districts of Florence); the district is also famous for its restorations schools, painting ones, design & fashion ones. Your hostess will lead you discovering the true Florentine traditions and the antique crafts such as restorer, wood carver, antique dealer ….
Day 4 In the morning meeting with your hostess and visit the Sant’Ambrogio market the most ancient food market in Florence discovering local products, light lunch in an Osteria. In the afternoon visit to a Fashion Design Studio, the owner-designer teaches fashion at Accademia Italiana (of Art, Fashion and Design in Florence), in this Studio you will find an atmosphere outside of time, because of the designer’s passion for quality design, using antique techniques to create dresses, accessories, wedding dresses and more.
Day 5 In the morning cooking lesson followed by the lunch. Time at leisure in the afternoon.
Day 6
Meeting with your hostess for a visit of the historic and most important gastronomic shops in the centre of Florence: olive oil lesson and tasting at the “Olioteca” of Olio & Convivium, which houses more than 25 olive oils, light lunch at Convivium. Time at leisure in the afternoon.
Day 7
Cooking lesson and lunch.
Day 8
Departure.
